Just returned from a week in Key West, sans internet, hence my lack of posts, but had a fantastic time! We even got to enjoy a wine tasting sponsored by the crew from Danger’s Wind & Wine Sunset Cruise that introduced our group to some new and interesting wines.

We started out with the lighter whites and ended with a heavier but very nice red Winemaker’s Blend from Hess. Below is our first wine – stay tuned for the rest!

2011 La Bourgeoisie Chardonnay

2011 La Bourgeoisie Chardonnay

Today’s wine, and the first wine served, was a light, crisp white from Washington state, a  2011 La Bourgeoisie Chardonnay, with a highly decorative label that resembled one from a fine French wine. If you read it carefully you will be surprised to find that this particular wine is an anonymous vintners production wine by Hedges Family Estate. They are a small family-owned vineyard who believe in “treating their wines with reverence” and letting the wine and culture of the Red Mountain area speak for itself”.

This particular wine is a wonderful non-oaked, fruity white wine with a balance of pear, green apples, pineapple, lychee and a  hint of caramel with floral and mineral overtones. A very refreshing, medium-bodied Chardonnay with nice acidity and a rounded viscosity, all for under $15, that will be sure to please any lover of Savignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio.

Drink now for optimum flavor.

Food Pairing: Keep the food light and delicate such as raw of cooked shellfish, grilled fish, chicken, salads, vegan menus and fruits.

Price: Under $15
